Outlook vs. cdosysmail SQL 2000

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to get a feeling of which method of setting up e-mail notifcations is more used and why. I'm finding that once Outlook is set up on a server using the e-mail functions are pretty straight forward and flexable. I've also been experimenting with using cdosysmail so I can avoid installing and configuring Outlook, but it's a big more of a work around.

What do you do?

Thanks

Using MAPI on SQL Server 2000 is generally considered a unnecessary risk.

I suggest that you examine using xp_smtpmail instead. Refer to this thread for more information.

Outlook / Word Interface not registered

I use outlook as my e-mail front end for all my e-mail accounts. I have recently installed my software (MS Office Pro) on a new PC. When I try to send an e-mail created in Outlook I get an error message - "Microsoft Word - Interface Not Registered" I have tried re-installing / repairing the software and this doesn't work. Can anyone please helpWe can't help in this forum. it may seem radical, but I suggest trying the Office community sites.|||
