Hi Everybody,
I'm doing a program to generate newsletter and in turn need to read the boun
ced email message from OUTLOOK and store these data into SQL db. These bounc
ed email addresses will need to be collected and for further processing.
But different ISP has different format of presenting their bounced email for
mat, eg. some will included the bounced email address in the subject, some i
n the content and some as attachment. Has anyone done this before, extractin
g specified information from OUTLOOK message and update into SQL db?
Would appreciate if somebody can show me some light.
Thanks in advance.
KristeI didnt directly used Outlook, i used Exchange server to get my message fro
m the folder
and put it in the SQL Server DB. Would beinteresting if you also have the ch
ance to get to your inbox on a Exchange server or via IMAP or if you only ha
ve the change to get the information from a pop3 pop or just outlook.
If you were sending out the information from the Account SQL Server is using
for sending E-Mails the XP
xp_readmail would be a choice for you. It reads the inbox messages of the ac
coutn of SQL Server (Agent).

Out of connections... or am I?
I'm getting the classic message "The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool" etc when connecting to my SQL Server 2005 Express from a .Net application.
Then I try connecting, simultaneously, from a simple ASP.net thing I wrote just for testing and this works fine. So, then the connection pool can't be full, can it? Or, does each application have its own pool??The application has its own pool. I have run into this before. Check through the .net application to make sure you closed all the connections.|||Check through the .net application to make sure you closed all the connections.I thought .Net did all this for you?|||From what I've understood, the Garbage Collector closes connections, but it might take some while before it does it. And I'm not sure that it can take care of all the relevant connections.
About my problem; it seems to work now after having changed the application to log in as an other user. Could it have been caused by some other error in the user/login setup?|||I imagine the Garbage Collector will close connections after the application exits, but when does a web application exit? The connections are sitting in the pool, and the close connection is what releases the connection back to the pool to be used again. Another annoying thing to note is that a connection is only reusable by other connection objects only if they share the same connection string. I think under ADO differences in the order of attributes made for two separate connection pools, but I am not sure, now.|||I noticed now that as soon as I re-save the config file read by IIS for this application, the application removes all the sleeping connections and it works fine, until a 100 connections limit is reached again. (Increasing the 100 threshold would just postpone the problem.)
Killing all the processes from within SQL Server doesn't help.|||what I learned from my brief stint as a java programmer was to never trust the garbage collectors and to always DIY. people poke fun at me for explicitly dropping temp tables in SQL but it all comes from this experience.
I wonder if this has some connection to a limitation with SQLExpress. I do not know for certain.

osql doesnt work - SOLVED
Sory for starting a new message, it won't let me reply to the original.
Problem has been solved.
Problem has been solved.
osql -U sa -s localhost\BALTD
Does the trick.
Thanks for everyone who had a look at it anyway!
Enjoy your weekend!Hi
With osql the case of the parameter is important for the server you need a
capital S. A lower case -s is a column separator. If you do not specify a
server then it will default instance on the local server will be used.

OS error 53 for SQL servers VPN replication?
I've got this error message when trying to create a subscriber from a
publisher through VPN in a non-trusted domain, I am using SQL server
authentication:
The schema script '\\MERCURY\G$\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL$MERCURY\ReplData\unc\MERCUR
Y$MERCURY_Northwind_NorthwindMercury
Pub1\20040221225704\snapshot.pre' could not be propagated to the subscriber.
(Source: Merge Replication Provider (Agent); Error number: -2147201001)
----
--
The process could not read file '\\MERCURY\G$\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL$MERCURY\ReplData\unc\MERCUR
Y$MERCURY_Northwind_NorthwindMercury
Pub1\20040221225704\snapshot.pre' due to OS error 53.
(Source: ECSWEB (Agent); Error number: 0)
----
--
The network path was not found.
(Source: (OS); Error number: 53)
What is OS error 53 and how can it be fixed? This error is generally caused by the fact that the SQL Server Agent
startup account on either the publisher or subscriber is not a local
administrator on one or both of the machines.
The default location for the snapshot folder is an administrative share and
as such the SQL Server Agent acount must be a local adminsitrator to access
it. From the error I am going to presume that you are creating a pull
subscription so the SQL Server Agent startup account at the subscriber must
be a local admin on the publisher. You can verify if this is the problem by
logging on to the subscriber using the SQL Server Agent startup account and
try to map a drive to the snap shot folder on the publisher:
\\MERCURY\G$\
If that fails with the same error then you have your reason for the failure.

Yes that's right the two SQL servers are in different
non-trusted domains connected through VPN. The Distributor and Publisher SQL
Server is in the NARC domain and Agent login account as NARC\Administrator.
And the subscriber is in the HOT domain and Agent Login account is
HOT\Administrator. No trusted can be established between them. What must I
do to achieved successful pull subscription? How do I allow permissions in
the NARC domain for HOT\Administrator if there's no trusted' What about
independent SQL server logins to access shares in NARC domain(How do I set
it up if possible)?
Thanks

restarting the mssqlserver service should do it for you...
